Human Rights Budgets

Human Rights Budget Work is a central repository of information about human rights budget work in countries around the world, and about resources that exist to support the work. The website is created and maintained by IHRIP (International Human Rights Internship Program).

The resource is based on premise that governmental duty is mainly to ensure that all citizens have their human rights respected and realized fully. Most people ignore the budgetary aspect of this responsibility, but the organization draws attention on the fact that governments' budget and the policy for realization of human rights are very much interrelated. To realize all civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights is a matter of resources and the degree to which people can enjoy their rights is also dependant on how much money is there to spend and it is spend.
